Summer Crookneck Squash, also known as Summer Warted Crookneck, is a tropical vegetable grown by Native Americans, which is typically eaten when the fruit is young and tender. Thomas Jefferson received seed of the "long crooked and warted" Squash in 1807 from Timothy Matlack, who called it "our best Squash". Jefferson-documented: This plant was documented by Thomas Jefferson in his Garden Book, Notes on the State of Virginia, or other writings.

Direct sow Yellow Summer Crookneck Squash (Cucurbita pepo cv.) seeds in hills or rows after the last spring frost; for hills, sow 6-8 seeds in 12"-wide hills, then thin to 3-4 plants per hill. Yellow Summer Crookneck Squash plants prefer moist but well-drained, fertile soil. Bush type. Approximately 25 Yellow Crookneck Squash seeds per packet.
